    I love George Michael's artistic work, but I have never been such an avid fan as to want to see him live or purchase his albums. In fact I only have individual singles of his on I-Tunes so far. However, that is now likely to change and this blu-ray disc might just be the catalyst. What a wonderful way to spend a few hours! That magical voice with lyrics and emotion making you really feel you are there. The stunning visuals (LED Backdrop, laser lighting etc.), backing singers and superb audience participation only add to what must be one of the best live concert recordings of recent times. I am really envious of those who were actually present, but this is definitely the next best thing! Video quality is very good without necessarily being reference quality. Venues like these make such recordings difficult in any case, with ever changing lighting conditions etc. In my opinion, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the disc either on a visual or audio technical level - both are excellent. The disc includes some bonus tracks, though these in reality simply appear to be some tracks omitted from the main programme. The tour documentary "I'd know him a mile off!" is based on a highly amusing incident in London, which will become clear to the viewer even before the concert starts. Without giving away anything, there is a certain person in the UK with whom George really is able to take the proverbial "Michael"! Great stuff.
    I do not need to reccommend this disc to fans, as they will lap it all up anyway and they know better than I do what to expect from a superb singer/songwriter and supreme entertainer. To those who are lukewarm in respect of George Michael, this might just ignite your passion for a rare talent among so many mediocre, manufactured artists. I have just read that George was born in the same month and year as myself (and erm ... yes, I'm gay as well!), so I hope that he does another tour before either of us get too old for such activity. Next time I really do want to be there!! This will be my consolation prize in the meantime ...

Live in London è la registrazione dal vivo degli ultimi due concerti di George Michael all'Earls Court di Londra il 24 e 25 agosto 2008 come parte del suo 25 Live Tour.
    George Michael in splendida forma, voce che lascia senza fiato, le sue canzoni non hanno bisogno di alcuna coreografia basta lui!
    Il Video Wall gigante (schermo a LED) è spettacolare: è la sua scenografia. LED alttissimo, formato da due pezzi che fanno sì che sia presente anche nel pavimento e trasmette video delle sue canzoni e altro. Di fronte a lui, in basso alla fine del palco, ci sono due piani trasparenti che trasmettono i testi delle sue canzoni mentre canta, una bella idea come "gobbo. E’ una scenografia minimale ma fatta con stile, il protagonista è lui e la sua voce.
    Qualità audio e video eccellente. Un librettino di 8 facciate con foto del concerto e con titoli delle canzoni, nomi dei musicisti che suonano nel concerto, collaborazioni e nomi delle persone che hanno creato questo concerto in blu ray.

    - BONUS TRACK: Tre canzoni del concerto non presente nella traccia principale:

Per questo documentario avrei preferito che ci fossero stati i sottotitoli (come nella versione DVD) almeno in inglese, in quanto malgrado riesca a capire abbastanza l'inglese, ho fatto fatica a capire i vari discorsi nei fuori campo dei camerini e altri luoghi in cui la voce non era in primo piano. In qualsiasi caso vi consiglio di vederlo perché reputo importante capire cosa vuol dire gestire e vivere eventi come questi, un tour così è comunque stancante, bisogna stare bene ed essere fisicamente in forma per cantare e spostarsi da una parte all'altra per il mondo in poco tempo, indipendentemente dell'aereo privato stanze di albergo lussuose. In questo documento potete vedere anche il montaggio della scenografia e il backstage durante il concerto dove George viene aiutato ai cambi di abito, trucco e tante altre cose. Veramente bello.

    Ovviamente consigliato a tutti gli amanti dell'artista e del formato Blu Ray.

    Man stelle sich das einmal vor - ein Künstler wie George Michael, mit über Einhundertmillionen verkauften Platte/Cd's weltwei. Mit einer Karriere die schon über ein viertel Jahrhundert andauert - so ein Ausnahmekünstler hat es bisher nicht geschafft ein einziges Live Concert auf Video oder DVD zu veröffentlichen.

    Mehr als 25 Jahre mussten ins Lande gehen damit wir nun endlich die Scheibe in Händen halten dürfen, eine echte Rarität eben, das muss man wohl so sagen.
    Und wenn es nach Georges Aussage geht dann wird dies auch seine Einzige Live DVD bleiben - AMEN! (Aber wie wir ihn alle kennen kann morgen schon wieder alles anders aussehen!!! ;o))

    Mein Test bezieht sich auf die Blue Ray die ich mit folgendem Equipment getestet habe:

    Das Konzert
    Die Erwartungen an die Blue Ray waren hoch - nachdem ich GM selber 3 mal Live erleben durfte. Der Sound Live war schon von ausserordentlicher Qualität... und er ist auch uf dieser Blue ray.
    Der Ton ist glasklar und SATT. Die Bässe so wie sie sein müssen und in den ruhigen Momenten klar und "frei". Man hat zu keiner Zeit der Song würde in ein korsett gepresst oder ähnliches. Über meine Surround kombination ist man wirklich mittendrin statt nur dabei, ein echtes Hörerlebnis.
    Das Konzert selber ist ein großartiges Sammelsorium aus über 25 Jahren von George Michaels Karriere. Man kann schon fast von einem Best of sprechen, soweit will ich aber doch nicht gehen da genügend Songs auf der Scheibe sind die bestimmt nicht "jeder" kennt. Die GM Fans sicherlich, aber für den neutralen Beobachter und Zuhörer dürfte es genügend an neuem/alten Material geben.

    Wer immer an die Fähigkeiten eines George Michael gezweifelt hat wird diese Haltung, nach Ansicht dieser Disc, mit bestimmter Sicherheit begraben können!
    Michaels Stimme ist einfach grandios und man mag fast daran zweifeln ob dies wirklich alles Live ist was man da zu sehen und zu hören bekommt - und das ist es! Dies kann ich sogar 3fach bestätigen denn George Michael singt keinen Song in der selben Art wie am Abend zuvor. Er variiert und spielt mit seine Stimme stets und ständig bringt andere Nauncen in das Lied etc...
    Das macht George zu einem Ausnahmekünstler in jeder hinsicht - ein Konzert zu geben und NICHT Live zu singen wären für den Mann eine persönliche Beleidigung.
    Und gerade deswegen kommt einem dieses konzert besser vor als so manch Studioproduktion von manch anderem Künstler.
    Zudem muss man sagen das man mit diesem Konzert auch wirklich das bekommt was drauf steht George Michael live - keine scharen von Tänzern und anderem pompösen Schnick Schnack der vom eigentlichen Geschehen ablenken soll.

    Der Zuschauer bekommt George Michael Live und das ist mehr als man erwaten kann!
    Der Mann ist Live eine Rakete die jeden sofort in seinen Bann zieht.
    Begleitet von einer großartig aufspielenden Band und absolut atemnberaubenden Backgroundsingern liftet George fast allein die Show in ungeahnte Höhen.
    Für das Auge dient eine überdimensionale Videoscreen die immer passend zum jeweiligen Song Videos oder Animationen einspielt. In eingen Szenen wirken die bilder geradezu berauschend und lassen den Flatscreen TV so richtig for Freude sprühen - Toll!

    Womit wir auch schon beim Bild der Blue ray wären:
    Das Bild ist wie es für eine Blue Ray sein sollte scharf und klar. Es sind nur die etwas dunkelen Passagen in Hintergrund die etwas zum grieseln neigen, dies spielt aber keine große Rolle. Alles in allem ein gutes Bild das dem sehr guten Ton wirklich entspricht, kann man wirklich nicht motzen.

    Einen Kritikpunkt gibt es am Ende aber doch noch:
    Nach der 1. Hälfte des Konzerts bekommt man plötzlich ein "normales" Musikvideo von George und dem Song "John and Elvis are dead" zu sehen. Zur Erklärung, dieser Song wurde in der realen "Konzertpause" gespielt um dann die 2. Hälfte langsam einzuläuten.
    Im Konzertsaal mag das ja noch gehen auf der Big Screen, aber zu Hause auf der DVD reißt es einem aus dem Live Erlebnis heraus, das ist Fakt!
    Es passt einfachj nicht inmitten des Konzerts ein Musikvideo vorgesetzt zu bekommen, auch wenn es der Realität sehr nahe kommt.
    Dafür hätte ich mir lieber etwas mehr Background Material gewünscht oder den ein oder anderen Song wie "Praying for Time" z.B.
    Der einzige wirkliche Kritikpunkt bei dieser großartigen Live Blue Ray!

    Also wer immer verpasst hat George Michael live zu sehen, wer immer ihn live gesehen hat, wer noch nie etwas mit GM anfangen konnte, und alle die die seine Arbeit lieben - für die Alles sei dieses Konzert ans Herz gelegt!

    Mit der Zusammenstellung an Hits und der Qualität hat sich das lange Warten auf die 1. Live DVD/Blue ray von George wirklich gelohnt.
    Ein perfektes Weihnachtsgeschenk zudem... also für mich war Heute schon Weihnachten, und jetzt seit IHR dran. KAUFEN!

    2 octobre 2007, 2h du matin : George Michael est au poste de police à Londres...
    2 octobre 2007, 21h : George Michael arrive sur la scène de la Halle Tony Garnier à Lyon, et j'y étais, plein d'incertitudes... Et bien, pour en avoir vu, je dois dire que ce concert reste parmi mes top 3 : une scène incroyable, des choristes et musiciens à ne pas pouvoir les compter, sans pour autant qu'on ne les voit, et l'artiste, une voix et une présence, qui sait passer outre le show formaté pour transmettre et partager une réelle émotion.
    J'espérais donc que ce concert sorte en galette un jour, et le voici, et en blu-ray. J'ai retrouvé tout le frisson et l'émotion passés. De plus, il s'agit là du dernier concert de cette tournée, chez lui à Londres, et George se livre encore un peu plus à son public.
    L'image et le son sont impeccables, la mise en scène, avec de nombreuses caméras, rendent le spectacle encore plus vivant. C'est le meilleur concert en blu-ray que je possède (mieux que Police ou S. Wonder), essentiellement pour la sincérité des émotions que l'artiste arrive à nous donner.
    Si je dois critiquer, voici ce que j'aurais aimé :
    - des sous-titres pour mieux capter le sens des chansons ainsi que les échanges avec le public
    - la chanson "they won't go when I go" n'y est pas...
    - 3 chansons en bonus - et non des moindres puisqu'il y a parmi elles "Jesus to a child" - qui auraient été à meilleure place là où elles étaient, à savoir dans le coeur du concert
    C'est du très lourd, allez-y sans crainte.
