Product description

In the near future, deadly assassin Yulaw (Jet Li) uses a newly-developed technology called 'quantum tunneling' to move from one parallel universe to the next, killing off all his parallel selves and becoming more powerful with each self he kills. Back in our own dimension, ordinary police officer Gabe (Li again) also feels himself becoming stronger, and cannot explain why. When Yulaw arrives in this dimension looking for Gabe, the last of the selves he must kill in order to achieve the omnipotence of 'the one', the pair soon become locked in an explosive, special-effects-saturated conflict, leading to a final deadly showdown.

    i had pre-ordered the new film from Jet Lee a little while ago on Amazon as it sounded intresting... it got bad reviews from quite a few film magazines and i did at one point think of canceling my order.....
    but the week before i got it i brought 'Kiss Of The Dragon' staring again Jet Lee and loved it! so i thought i would stick with it....
    i'm glad i did realy, as its a very very good popcorn movie.
    yes its a matrix rip-off; with bullet time being very over used, even some of the clothes have been nicked!....
    but thats not the point is it? its a very injoyible film to watch where you can take your brain out a gear and relaxe...
    The One is about there being a mutiverse rather than a universe with hundreds of worlds all the same only mildly differant.
    Lee finds out that if he kills a 'double' on another world the rest become stronger, as there is only one left they are both allmost superheros in strenth but only the evil Lee knows this at the start of the film.
    this makes for some lovely effects of Lee super human speed; he can doge bullets, jump tall buildings and such like [sound a bit simaler?]
    one seen at the start of the film sees evil Lee take-out a double and take on a fully armed swat team after only with a pistol; and at one piont kicks a cop into the air, moves underneth him, takes out two more cops before haveing another go at the first guy who is now just above his head! [this is all done floorlessly]
    if you liked 'X Men' this will apeel to you, just don't expect it to be the next Matrix or Blade: think of it a a realy good pizza night in with a few freinds and large amounts of cheap beer!

    This movie would save humanity if an alien race attacked, we would show them this film and they would realise that we have far surpassed them in everyway and they would shoot themselves for not being a part of the perfect species that is the human race, that could make someting as beautiful as Jet Li's The One

    Martin Luther King Jr once said "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character"
    I also have a dream. Where the world can watch Jet Li's The One and not be judged by the choices of their actions but praised by taking in such a masterpiece.

    And as said by Albert Einstien: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones" I believe that we will never see this come to be, as Jet Li's The One shall bring world peace to all of multiverse

    Although there are some logical flaws I liked the film.
    Action level very high.
    Seen as scifi-action - complete success.
    Jet Li with multiple characters to play for certain had his fun.
    And even the sidekick is well performed (Statham).
    They are action actors and no new Hamletian playgroup - and this is what they perform really well.
    The effects are mainly used for driving the story and not for being possible alone. Although the budget is not 100 million surplus it is done neatly.
    I would buy it anew!
