Product description

Romantic fantasy starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Kate Forster (Bullock) is a doctor who lives in a beautiful home by a lake. Forced to move elsewhere, she requests that any correspondence that arrives at the lake house be passed on to her new address. To her surprise, she soon receives a romantic note from Alex Burnham (Reeves), an architect who lives in the cottage she once called home. However, a look at the postmark on the letter reveals that he lived at the home two years before she did, and that somehow they've come in contact with one another through a space in time.

If you are expecting explosions, speedy pacing, instant thrills, you won't find it here. But if you're looking for subtlety, pacing and a reflective style, this is your man.

Something of its intensity is lost in the translation from big screen to small, (there are a lot of long shots, which don't work so well on the small screen), but it still poses a viable alternative to the smart, slick, bombastic offerings generally served up to the i-pod generation (don't get me wrong, I like big, splashy commercial stuff, too).

The word `delicacy' comes to mind when watching this. It's a small, small, intimate, lovingly crafted movie with sincere, unhurried, very natural performances from the cast.

As to how the magic happens at all, listen carefully to Cate's (Cate with a 'C' - see what Alex scrawls on the wall!) speech towards the end - when you hear it, you'll know the one I mean. There's a scene much like it in Somewhere in Time made by `Elise McKenna', and it sort of explains everything. But I had to watch it more than once to figure it out.

Those who don't get it - i.e. thinks it's a waste of time - won't get it, and never will.

Maybe its gentle, reflective themes strike them as old fashioned. Don't let that put you off. Contrary to what others say, movies don't always have to be downbeat to have credence. Anyway, this is one movie where you can't second-guess. It really could go one way or the other.

It's a simply wonderful film; One that will stay with you forever.

Can't go wrong with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves in the film. This is an evolving love story played out over letters that pass through time as they are separated by years instead of miles. The house by the lake is the center of the mystery as letters pass back and forth through time via the post box. They meet but time has not passed enough for them to know each other. Tragedy will keep them apart but.... Oops, but no spoiler alerts. Clever plot twists, very inventive story line, but I still can't figure what's with the dog, even with repeat viewings. Worth every minute of watching.

Though I know this is a great movie because I have seen it before, this purchase was a flop since the imported svd wouldn't play in my dvd player. Lesson learned.

Un film bellissimo, appassionante, emozionante. Dalla fisica quantistica all'antico valore della corrispondenza. Lo scorrere dei sentimenti in una realtà impossibile che è invece possibile.
